SuperData said sales in September were boosted by higher spending on downloaded console games and growth in the mobile space.
Digital sales reached US$5.4 billion last month with revenue up in most categories. In the pay-to-play multiplayer online games category, which include titles such as Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, revenue was down.
But digital console games increased 29 percent to $326 million. Average monthly spending on full-game purchases was up 39 percent to $132.46.
