Tosh Plans ‘Unbreakable’ Encryption
The technology is described as the first use of a quantum cryptographic communication system using actual data. Tosh says it will begin verification testing with the transmission of genome analysis data in Japan on August 31.
The technology uses quantum physics to ensure that data encrypted with digital keys remains secret.
The test will use genome data produced by the Japanese Japonica Array genome analysis tool at Toshiba’s Life Science Analysis Centre, which will be transmitted to Tohoku University’s Medical Megabank Organisation over a distance of 7km.
The verification program will run until August 2017.
