Aussie LG G4 Set For November Marshmallow Update

Aussie LG G4 Set For November Marshmallow UpdateLG states software updates for G4 users will commence from mid-November, with timings for releases to vary by operator version, with each G4 variant requiring separate carrier approval, determining delivery timelines.

LG has highlighted a number of features that will come with the Marshmallow update, including:

– Permissions simplification: making it easier for users to control what information individual apps can access on their phone, as opposed to the previous “all-or-nothing” basis permission on installation, with users now able to choose at any time which features and data apps can access.

– Advanced silent feature: giving the user more control over which sounds or vibrations the phone makes in different modes. “Do Not Disturb” mode, for example, allows alarms to be on “loud” while all other notifications are kept silent

– Doze mode: designed to provide more battery life by shutting down apps which are open but dormant, providing a back-up for users if they forget to “close all” on the cascading app menu.

“By working closely with Google, LG has been able to bring Android 6.0 to the LG G4 soon after the global launch of the new OS,” Chris Yie, LG Mobile Communications Company vice president and head of marketing communications, commented.

“While speed alone isn’t an indicator of great service, it does go a long way towards giving consumers the confidence that LG is committed to its existing customers first.”
