Forget About The LG G4 A New G5 With 20 Megapixel Camera + Fast Processor Is Coming

But don’t bet on getting your hands on the new device early as LG Australia are notoriously slow in launching their new model smartphones in Australia.

ChannelNews has been told that the new device will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March 2016.

The new Qualcomm processor which is yet to appear in any smartphone, is scheduled to land in consumer devices early next year.

It’s also tipped that the new LG G5 will launch with a 20-megapixel camera.

That’s a resolution increase from the 16-megapixel sensor featured on the LG G4.

What’s more, the sensor will reportedly be half-an-inch wide and will be custom-built by Sony.

The LG G4 has an impressive camera, as highlighted in our product review earlier this year, despite this the device has been a poor seller in Australia.
According to observers one of the main issues is that LG Australia has failed to invest in marketing for the device compared to what other brands have done in Australia.
“LG Korea do not see Australia as a strong smartphone market as a result they refuse to allocate marketing dollars for either brand or product marketing similar to what the likes of Apple, Samsung and even Huawei are doing. A trip to Sydney airport reveals how much some brands are spending on outdoor marketing” said a former senior LG executive.

According to IDC LG only sold 40,000 smartphones in Q2, even Huawei outsold the G4 with 80,000 units, ZTE with 52,470. Even HTC with their problematic HTC One M9 sold 70,000 units.

According to Telstra Shop staff the G4 “is not” a strong seller” despite the device attracting excellent reviews around the world.
