Despite rumours they would be releasing new iPads this year, Apple didn’t, and instead is likely to release them in 2024, with one major change.

According to sources, the company will release the first iPad Pro models with OLED at some point next year. There are also plans to increase the size of the mini from 8.3-inches to 8.7-inches.

Reports suggest an 8.7-inch iPad mini will debut in 2026, as well as a new 10.9-inch iPad Air. In 2027, a 12.9-inch iPad Air is set to debut. All three are tipped to feature OLED.

Although all of the above are set to have OLED displays, there is a crucial difference between them. The 2024 iPad Pro series is tipped to have an LTPO panel, which will allow for a ProMotion feature, with a max refresh rate of 120Hz. The other model will have LTPS panels, with a max refresh rate of 60Hz.

For those wanting to upgrade their iPad mini or Air, the current models, released in 2021 and 2022, could soon be updated, however not to OLED.

A 7th Gen iPad mini is tipped to come with an A16 Bionic chip, and may feature a new display controller, resolving the jelly scrolling issue of some iPad mini 6s.

The 6th Gen iPad Air is expected to include an M2 chips, and the regular iPad, updated in 2022, could also see an update next year.

Sources also claim the first MacBook with OLED panels is set to debut in 2025, and the 14-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 15-inch MacBook Air could also see OLED updates come 2026.
