$200 Logitech 4K Webcam For Apple Pro Display XDR

Logitech is jumping on the Apple Mac Pro train with the unveiling of its US$200 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam explicitly designed for the new Pro Display XDR.

The bespoke 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam is available from both the Logitech and Apple store for US$199.

Australian pricing is not yet available.

Priced at A$11,698.00 (with the A$1,699 Pro Stand Included) the Pro Display XDR is Apple’s answer to professional-grade reference monitors.

For an extra US$200 you can add a 4K webcam that attaches via a secure magnetic mount matched precisely to the dimensions of the Pro Display XDR.

While it may seem an odd decision to not include a webcam in a nearly $12K monitor, but considering its use case, it’s an understandable commission.

The webcam can capture 4K Ultra HD video at 30 fps, and thanks to Right Light 3 HDR technology, the camera automatically adjusts to ambient lighting to highlight the most important subject in the frame.

You can bump the frame rate up to 90 fps when recording 720p HD video.

Featuring a similar anodized aluminium finish to the Mac Pro, the Logitech webcam will sit flush atop your Pro Display XDR.

The magnet is strong enough to keep the webcam steady, while still allowing for tilt adjustments to be made on the fly.

When it comes to removing the webcam, just give it a forceful tug, and it will come loose.

Adjusting the webcam is as easy as accessing the Logitech Camera Settings app for Mac, allowing users to adjust brightness, colour intensity and contrast, as well as access zoom and image controls.

If the display is rotated during recording, the image will automatically switch to portrait mode for uninterrupted conversations.

The Logitech 4K webcam is also compatible with other select Mac computers with the included 2m USB-C Extension Cable.
