You Can Now Have Follow Up Conversations With Google

Google Assistant users can now have follow up conversations with the smart assistant removing the need to constantly say ‘Ok, Google’.

This new feature was unveiled at last month’s I/O conference which according to the company has been a popular request.

The continued conversations feature is rolling out with some devices in Australia able to use the feature.

With Continued Conversation turned on, after someone asks the Assistant a question, a user can ask a follow-up, set a reminder, or add something to a shopping list without having to say “Hey Google” each time.

Users can say “thank you” or “stop” once the conversation is over or Google will end the conversation if it detects no one is talking to the Assistant.

As per usual, a conversation needs to be started with “Ok, Google,” “Hey Google,” or with a physical trigger, but with this new optional setting turned on, Google says the Assistant will stay active for long enough to respond to follow up questions so you don’t have to say “Hey Google” as often.

It can be turned on through the Google Assistant app by going to Settings → Preferences → Continued Conversation and hitting the toggle.
