You Can Now Ask Google When The Next AFL Game Is

Just in time for footy season, Google Assistant can now tell its Aussie users information on their favourite AFL, NRL and Rugby Union teams.

From today, fans can check live scores, match results, upcoming fixtures, and ladders for their favourite footy codes with Google Assistant and on Google Search. For example, users can ask their Google Assistant “Ok Google, when are the Fremantle Dockers playing next”.

You can also ask the Google Assistant to tell you all the latest news on your favourite AFL team by saying, “Hey Google, play Sydney Swans news”. The news briefings are updating once a day during the off-season and twice a day in the regular season.

In Google search users can view the fixtures and game times in a neat panel at the top of the search results page on mobile or desktop.

Live scores for NRL, AFL and Rugby Union teams will be available in a snapshot at the top of Google Search Results. With a simple voice command, you can also ask your Google Assistant to check the ladder to see how your team is fairing.
Google Assistant will also understand your preferred team nicknames and the sports you care about over time. You can also ask your Assistant to tell you an AFL joke, or make season predictions by asking “Ok Google, who’s going to win the flag?.”
