Its Here: Kindle Fire Hits Dick’s $229

Today, we got Aussie pricing of Kindle Fire 7″ 16GB WiFi, with Dick Smith opening pre-orders for $229, including delivery on its website.

Amazon 7 inch Kindle Fire has some top specs: HD display, Wi-Fi, and access to Amazon appstore for e-books, music and videos. It also has Dolby audio, front-facing HD camera and 10 hours of battery life.
Kindle Fire HD is available with 16GB storage only, it appears, although a 32GB model is sold in the US.

A store spokesperson would not confirm if Fire’s larger 8.9″ display will be available, when contacted by CN today.

But although the Aussie price isn’t far off the US price of $214 (for a change), there are other 7″ tabs that cost under $200 as prices continue to drop, but these have half the storage and not as spec-ed out as the Fire.
iPad Mini 16GB costs around $356, so Fire is much cheaper.
Fire seekers can order the tablet now from Dick Smith and get it on 13 June. The store rep would not confirm when the Kindle Fire was hitting in-store, however.
The retailer is also offering extended warranty for $52/$72 for 1 or 2  years.
Kindle Fire is no where to be seen on Big W’s website, the other retailer who is tipped to sell the tablet, but we are awaiting confirmation.

Although in the US for yonks, the Kindle Fire has never been available here before.
