Microsoft used its latest Xbox Games Showcase to look both backwards and forwards, unveiling a special-edition console inspired by the original Xbox while also confirming a major wave of new titles for Xbox Game Pass.

To celebrate the brand’s 25th anniversary, Xbox will release the limited-edition Xbox Series X25 later this year. The console adopts a translucent green finish reminiscent of the first Xbox launched in 2001, alongside a green illuminated Xbox logo and commemorative anniversary badging. A matching Xbox Wireless Controller will also be available, featuring the same retro styling and coloured face buttons inspired by the original Duke controller.

While the exterior has received a nostalgic makeover, the hardware remains unchanged, with the console retaining the standard Xbox Series X specifications and 1TB of storage. Pricing and pre-order details are yet to be announced.

Alongside the hardware reveal, Microsoft highlighted the future of Xbox Game Pass by announcing 17 new day-one releases coming to the subscription service.

Among the biggest titles are Gears of War: E-Day, Halo: Campaign Evolved and the long-awaited Fable reboot, alongside Persona 6, State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution, Resonance: A Plague Legacy and Minecraft Dungeons II.
