Where The Kids? LG Smartband Tracks Kidz

Where The Kids? LG Smartband Tracks KidzLG have just unveiled a new KizON wristband that tracks kids whereabouts, has location alerts and lets kids call their parents from the wrist band, if they get into difficulty.

The colourful kiddy band is designed exclusively for pre-school and primary school children.
KizON provides real-time location information allowing parents to track their children’s whereabouts from a smartphone or tablet, via GPS and Wi-Fi. It goes on sale in Korea today.
“The availability of KidOn in Australia has not yet been decided but is in discussion at the moment,” an LG Australia spokesperson told CN.
The wristband has a ‘One Step Direct Call’ which allows parents to communicate with their children – but it gets better.
If the child fails to answer within ten seconds, the kiddy watch will automatically connect the call to let the parents listen through the built-in microphone.
By pressing the One Step Direct Call button, children can also dial a pre-configured phone number if they get into trouble.
KizON has a Location Reminder, which allows adults to pre-set the device to provide location alerts at specific times throughout the day. So, say if your kid is meant be at school and the watch indicates otherwise, then this alert could prove handy.
Battery life for KizON is rated for 36 hours and parents will be alerted via their smartphones when the battery is below 25 percent.
The band is constructed of eco-friendly polythiourethane material that is water and stain resistant and comes in blue, pink and green.
Accessories featuring popular animation characters will be available for KizON.
Wearables are big news right now and LG has released several for adults, to date, including G Watch on the new Android Wear platform.
LG has a “vision to become a leader in wearables,” says Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Mobile.
“Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies,”
“Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket.”
KizON goes on sale in South Korea today followed by the US and Europe in the third quarter. No price details are yet available.
