Salesforce Nabs Obama Star

Salesforce Nabs Obama StarHe is Vivek Kundra, who held the world’s No 1 CIO post from March 2009 until August last year, when he departed the White House to take up a teaching post at Harvard.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff was plainly tickled pink about the coup of landing the former CIO: “Vivek Kundra is an amazing technology visionary who opened the eyes of millions to the transformational power of cloud computing,” said Benioff. “His disruptive leadership is just what the industry needs to accelerate the social enterprise.”

At present, 68 percent of Salesforce’s revenue is from the USA and Canada; 18 percent is from Europe and the remaining 14 percent is from Asia-Pacific.

Kundra said Salesforce would present itself to developing nations as a provider of “new services,” like healthcare delivered over mobile networks. The overall strategy will be developed over the next few months, he said.
