Victrola is targeting consumers who want the appeal of vinyl without being locked into a traditional i-fi setup, launching its Wave turntable with wired connectivity, high-resolution Bluetooth and Auracast wireless audio.

The hybrid turntable is designed to bridge the gap between traditional vinyl playback and wireless home audio systems, giving the option to connect the turntable to a conventional wired setup or stream records wirelessly to compatible speakers and headphones.

Victrola is positioning the Wave as a premium step up from entry-level record players, combining a low-resonance MDF plinth, precision aluminium platter, anti-vibration slipmat and an adjustable aluminium tonearm with modern wireless connectivity.

The turntable includes Bluetooth input as well as Bluetooth output, allowing consumers to stream music from other devices through their audio system while also transmitting vinyl wirelessly to compatible speakers or headphones.

It also supports aptX Adaptive and aptX HD, while integrated Auracast technology allows the Wave to broadcast audio to multiple compatible speakers or headphones.

For retailers, the product reflects the changing nature of the vinyl category, where consumers may want the physical ownership and listening experience of records without a separate traditional hi-fi system.

Victrola has also designed the Wave to remain relevant as consumers upgrade their systems, with a removable headshell, adjustable counterweight, built-in phono preamp and RCA output.

The current Walnut version is fitted with an Ortofon OM5E cartridge, while other versions use an Audio-Technica AT-VM95E cartridge, depending on the configuration.

Victrola is also offering the Wave as part of a wider home audio proposition, pairing the turntable with its Tempo bookshelf speakers in a bundle designed to provide a complete vinyl listening system without requiring consumers to source separate amplification and speakers.

The Wave turntable is priced at £349/US$499/€399 (approximately AU$799–$899) with Australian retail information yet to be announced.
