US Officials Look To Control High-Tech Exports To China

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON: The Trump Administration is reported to be trying to curb China’s access to US technology on the pretence of China using it for commercial purposes – instead diverting it to military use.

According to a Reuters report, senior US officials aim to stop Chinese companies from buying certain optical materials, radar equipment and semiconductors from the USA.

The moves come as relations between the United States and China, a key customer for US technology, sour over the deadly coronavirus pandemic, which originated in Wuhan.
