Unseen Barriers Holding Back Aussies From Working At Home

Many more Australians could be working from home – but somehow it’s difficult to know what’s holding them back according to a new survey carried out for Telstra by the Nielsen global information and measurementency.

According to the survey nearly twice as many Australian employers at 48 percent say it’s feasible for their staff to work at home compared to the number of employees actually taking it + – 28 percent.

Employees stated that they want to work at home more often than they do: as many as 9 in 10 employees who can work at home want to do it more regularly and 30 percent want to work at home every day

Only 45 percent of workers believe their employer has formal flexible working policies in place However Nielsen says that in fact 83 percent Australian employers stated they do have such policies.

The research is claimed to draw on responses from 1200 employees and 600 employers to create Telstra’s first Work-Life Index.
