Uniden is expanding its in-car technology range with the release of a new dash cam that aims to balance high-resolution recording with a more accessible price point.

The iGO CAM 63R features a dual-camera setup, capturing footage in 4K at the front and 2K at the rear. It is designed for drivers who want clearer visibility of incidents both ahead of and behind their vehicle without spending at the top end of the market.

Set to launch in May, the device will debut at an introductory price of $159, significantly below its recommended retail price of $300. The reduced launch cost places it among the more affordable options in the dual-camera segment, particularly given its specifications.

The dash cam includes a 3-inch LCD colour display, allowing users to view recordings directly on the unit. This also supports rear camera playback, which can be useful for quickly reviewing footage without needing to transfer files to another device.

Uniden is bundling a 64GB Micro SD card with the product, meaning it can be used straight out of the box without additional purchases. The inclusion of storage is increasingly expected by buyers, but it is not always standard in lower-priced models.

The company has been steadily building out its iGO range, which focuses on practical upgrades for everyday drivers. The recent release of the iGO Play 10+ portable touchscreen, which adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to older vehicles, signalled a broader push into accessible in-car tech.

With the iGO CAM 63R, Uniden appears to be targeting drivers who want added peace of mind on the road through continuous recording and wider coverage. While higher-end dash cams often include more advanced features, this model leans into core functionality such as resolution and ease of use.

The move also reflects growing demand for dash cams in Australia, where drivers are increasingly turning to onboard recording for insurance purposes and incident verification. By lowering the entry price during launch, Uniden is likely aiming to capture a wider segment of that market.
