Photo Finishing To Help Harvey Norman Online Operation
After several years of criticising online marketing, Harvey Norman boss Gerry Harvey says the retail chain’s new e-commerce Web site is on course for an October launch.
Launch of the site will be the “most significant addition to HN’s business in the first half of fiscal 2012”, according to HN’s report for the financial year to June 30, released yesterday.
“Using market intelligence we have already gained from our successful photo-finishing and Domayne sites, we are confident our on-line transactional strategy will produce incremental dollars to the existing channel,” the report said.
Harvey Norman reported net profit of $252.3 million for the year to June 30, up from $231.4 million in FY 2010.
Melbourne-based consumer electronics e-tailer – and Harvey Norman critic – Kogan.com yesterday claimed record yearly growth for the year to June 30, but did not reveal actual figures.
Kogan claimed its e-store traffic had increased by 104.28 percent in FY11, which it said showed more Australians are looking for hot deals online. Revenue was up 100 percent and conversion rates – ie, traffic which turned into paying customers – increased 85.42 percent.
