Two New Airpods Could Arrive Before Year’s End

Rumours are circulating Apple could add two new models of its wireless AirPods earphones before the end of the year.

The range expansion would make sense given the fast-selling product’s position as a “cultural phenomenon” in the eyes of CEO Tim Cook.

AirPods, along with the HomePod and Watch, are partly responsible for Apple’s Wearables, Home and Accessories business bringing in over $5 billion last quarter, more than ever before.

Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told 9to5 Mac two new models are expected in Q4 2019 or Q1 2020, with one mild update, and another potentially featuring a completely new form factor.

Digitimes recently reported noise cancellation will be included on new Airpods being assembled by Taiwan’s Inventec.

Apple recently released the second-generation Airpods featuring an updated chipset, voice-activated Siri support, and wireless charging through an optional case.

Mr Kuo expects 52 million Airpods to ship before the end of the year, rising to 75 million in 2020.
