Toyota Set To Buy Google Robots

Toyota is set to buy Boston Dynamics and Schaft’s robot divisions from Google’s Alphabet. A Nikkei financial news report said Toyota is interested in buying Boston Dynamics, home of the Cheetah, pictured, supposedly the world’s fastest robot, and Schaft, a division that was headed by two former Tokyo University professors.

Alphabet execs said two months ago that they wanted to offload Boston Dynamics, as they believe it will not be able to make a marketable product in the next couple of years.

It is unknown how Toyota will try to make the most out of Boston Dynamics, but one possibility is an attempt to integrate some of the technology behind the robots with its self-driving cars.
