Tivoli Audio Revives Retro PAL BT Speaker With Improved Sound And Battery
Tivoli Audio has refreshed its cult-favourite PAL BT portable speaker and FM radio for 2025, delivering improved audio performance, longer battery life and new colours, while keeping its signature retro design.
The updated PAL BT is now available in Australia for A$445, while the PAL+BT DAB+ model will retail for A$485.
Originally launched over two decades ago, the PAL (Portable Audio Laboratory) has long been a favourite among audio purists for its blend of simplicity and solid performance.
The 2025 refresh brings a two-hour boost in battery life, offering up to 14 hours of playback for the PAL BT and 10 hours for the PAL+BT.
Both models now feature USB-C charging, cutting full charge times to just 2.5 hours.

Under the hood, a 45-watt Class D amplifier drives a full-range neodymium speaker, backed by 56-bit DSP processing for cleaner sound and stronger bass from a surprisingly compact cabinet.
Connectivity stays simple with Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, 3.5mm auxiliary input and a headphone output, with no companion app required.
For those looking for a more modern radio, the PAL+BT adds DAB+ digital radio and an integrated alarm clock, maintaining the same weather-resistant housing.
Tivoli’s signature design remains front and centre, with tactile analogue dials and bold new matte finishes including white, red, blue, black and a new grey option.
The PAL BT’s performance stands up well against flashier and pricier modern rivals such as Bose’s SoundLink Micro, Sonos Roam and Bang & Olufsen’s Beosound A1.
