Telstra Continues To Lead In NBN Co’s Latest Quarterly Report
The ACCC has rolled out its latest NBN Wholesale Market Indicators Report, with numbers revealing both the continued dominance of Telstra when it comes to wholesale access services.
All up, NBN Co brought its total supplied services to 1,388,665 – an increase of just over 250,000 for the quarter.
The service also raised their aggregate network capacity supply to 1,535 gigabits per second.
Telstra leads as the largest overall acquirer of wholesale access services with a market share of 49.7%, with TPG, Optus and Vocus trailing behind them.
“Telstra’s market share of NBN access services in metropolitan areas is 43%, which is similar to its market share of traditional broadband technologies. In regional areas, where it has enjoyed much larger market shares, up to 90% in some areas, Telstra’s market share of wholesale NBN access services is around 55%” ACCC chairman Rodd Sims said.
The report found that the most popular speed tier continues to be the 25/5Mbps, a trend which can be seen to suggest that widespread market demand for higher-speed services just isn’t there yet.
The next report, due in January, will be the first to feature HFC and Long Term Satellite services.
