TCL has broadened its television portfolio with the introduction of the A400 Pro, arriving shortly after Amazon revealed its Ember Artline model.

Positioned against design-focused rivals such as Samsung’s The Frame, the A400 Pro NXTVISION television aims to merge visual performance with home styling. It sits within the lifestyle TV segment, where displays are designed to enhance a room’s appearance rather than disrupt it, an area that has often struggled to balance strong picture quality with refined aesthetics.

The A400 Pro addresses this by incorporating QD-Mini LED technology with as many as 448 local dimming zones, offering deeper contrast and brighter highlights than typically seen in decor-oriented televisions. This specification brings it closer to performance-driven sets while maintaining its design-first approach.

At the core of the display is TCL’s TSR AiPQ processor, which evaluates scenes as they play to refine contrast levels, colour precision and motion clarity. The panel supports a native 4K resolution at 144Hz, with motion enhancement reaching up to 288Hz, helping fast-paced footage and gaming sequences appear fluid and sharp.

Sound is delivered through a built-in ONKYO 2.0 Hi-Fi system with Dolby Atmos and DTS compatibility, reducing the need for additional audio equipment and supporting a cleaner, cable-light setup in living spaces.

The design features a single-piece build finished in a light walnut wood-effect frame, paired with a matte HVA screen that minimises reflections and mimics the look of framed artwork. A built-in brightness sensor automatically adjusts the display according to ambient lighting conditions throughout the day.

When not being used as a television, the unit can switch to an Art Gallery mode, showcasing curated pieces or AI-generated imagery. Google TV powers the smart experience, offering streaming services, tailored recommendations and voice-enabled controls.

The A400 Pro is set to launch in the UK in four sizes, with the 43-inch model priced at about A$1,150, the 55-inch at around A$1,720, the 65-inch at approximately A$2,100 and the 75-inch version at close to A$2,670.

Australian availability and pricing are yet to be confirmed.
