Xmas Shopping On Smartphones Set To Reach All Time High On Dec 8

Online shoppers are ditching computers for their phones, with December 8 predicted to be the busiest day ever for Internet shopping using mobiles.

More than 1.28 million Australians are tipped to shop using a mobile on Sunday week, up more than 30 per cent on last year’s busiest day, online auction site eBay estimates.

Some 2.3 million Australians will visit eBay, the online shopping house claims – more than 50 percent (1.28 million) via smartphone or tablet. This marks a 30 percent jump on the busiest online shopping day in 2012 (December 9).

About 390,000 items will be sold, eBay claims – an average of more than 200 items a minute. In all, some $14.6 million worth of goods will be traded.
