Sydney, Melbourne Businesses Offered 300Mbps G.fast Deal

Business-focussed telco Comvergence is to deploy G.fast technology from US manufacturer Calix in multi-tenanted commercial buildings in Sydney and Melbourne to provide faster broadband services to tenants.

The Melbourne-based company will deploy the Calix AXOS E5-16F G.fast node and 801F GigaPoint customer premises units over the existing copper infrastructure to deliver service at 300Mbps.

Calix says this comes along with “the capability to deliver a true gigabit experience to each subscriber if required.”

It adds that Comvergence will be able to deliver double the bandwidth by bonding two copper pairs and will be able to dynamically allocate capacity to the upstream or downstream link.

Comvergence director Brian Michael said the company would also deploy the Calix G.fast technology “in buildings nationally.”

Telstra announced last month that Comvergence is also using Telstra Wholesale fibre services to serve customers able to connect to Telstra fibre. – Stuart Corner
