Spotify Moves On Hi-Res Streaming

Tidal may not have bragging rights as the only big music streaming service to offer higher-resolution audio content for much longer, with rumors that Spotify is finally ready to unveil its own premium offering.

Sources at The Verge say that the new tier will be called Spotify Hi-Fi and offer lossless CD-quality audio.

Reports say that Spotify have already begun offering the service to some users as of this week.

Those “beta” users have confirmed the service looks to be arriving as a $10 premium on top of Spotify’s regular pricing system.

With that in mind, a full-blown announcement can’t be far away.

Regardless, a Spotify spokesperson refused to shed any light on the matter, telling The Verge, “We are always testing new products and offers but have no news to share at this time.”
