The growing hype around a new generation of Sony’s WH-1000 series of headphones is soon to be rewarded, as the Japanese conglomerate tease the release of the WH-1000XM5 on May 12th.
While no details or photographs have been officially released, the picture in the teaser aligns with the earlier leaked pictures, and the dates match the pattern of a release every 2 years.
Leaked specs suggest Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and 40 hours of battery life. There will also be a fitted headphone jack. The WH-1000XM5 is expected to have quick-charging capabilities, with a full charge delivered in 3.5 hours (210 minutes).
Other features include spotless audio and noise cancellation, alongside a supremely comfortable and practical design.
Pricing and global availability is yet to be revealed, as details are yet to be officially released. Despite widespread criticism of high pricing, previous iterations have been extremely successful, and the new generation is thought to be the pair that takes on the Apple AirPods Max.
