Sony Leak Points To Premium ‘1000X The Collexion’ Headphones
Details of Sony’s upcoming headphones have surfaced online, suggesting the company is preparing to introduce a new high-end model under the name “1000X The Collexion”.
The information appeared briefly on Sony’s Australian and New Zealand websites, where a placeholder page was reportedly published before being removed. Although no official images were visible, a text description linked to the missing image referenced a person wearing white versions of the headphones. This type of description, commonly known as alt-text, is typically used to support search visibility and accessibility, but in this case it revealed the product name.
The full model is believed to be called WH-1000XX, indicating an over-ear design that builds on the well-known WH-1000X series. The naming may also nod to the original MDR-1000X, which launched a decade ago, with the additional “X” potentially marking the anniversary using Roman numerals.

Sony is expected to position the headphones with the tagline “Master the art of listening”, reinforcing a focus on premium audio performance. Early details suggest the model will include active noise cancelling, Sony’s DSEE Ultimate audio processing and a Mediatek MT2855 chip. Reports also point to a more refined physical design, including metal hinges, although the headphones are not expected to feature a foldable structure.
Two colour options are anticipated, with both black and white finishes likely to be available. Manufacturing is said to take place in Vietnam, with a strong emphasis on build quality and materials.
Pricing is where the biggest shift appears to be. The leaked figure of around A$1,000 places the model significantly above the previous WH-1000XM6, which launched at approximately A$699. This substantial increase suggests Sony may be preparing to introduce a new flagship tier rather than a simple update or special edition within its existing range.
