Sony Launches The World’s Fastest SD Card

Sony has developed a new series of SD cards featuring the fastest write speed in the world to meet the demands of the latest cameras and other devices.

The SF-G Series of UHS-II SD cards offer a write speed of up to 299 MB/s and a read speed of up to 300MB/s, and will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities.

“As the continuous shooting of higher-resolution images and adoption of 4K video with DSLR and mirrorless cameras increases, the inherent need for larger, faster and more dependable cards becomes apparent,” said Takayuki Takemura, Deputy Director of Recording Media and Energy Division at Sony South East Asia.

Cameras compatible with UHS-II technology will be able to take advantage of longer continuous shooting and reduce buffer clearing time thanks to the SD cards, and the cards also feature waterproof and anti-static capabilities.

The company also announced the MRW-S1 SD card reader with UHS-II support to quickly transfer files to computers over USB 3.1.

Sony’s SF-G Series SD cards and MRW-S1 SD card reader will both be available in Australia from April. Pricing information has not been confirmed.
