Samsung could be preparing to make its Galaxy S26 lineup more expensive, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra potentially among the models affected by a reported price increase in South Korea.

According to reports, Samsung is considering raising the prices of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra by 149,600 won, or approximately A$154. The proposed increase could take effect from October 1.

The potential price adjustment comes as smartphone manufacturers continue to deal with rising component costs, in particular memory. Strong demand for memory from the AI industry has added pressure to the supply chain, with some of the increased costs being passed along to consumers.

Samsung has reportedly acknowledged that it is reviewing smartphone pricing because of higher component costs but has not officially confirmed anything at this stage. 

The news comes shortly after Apple made price adjustments to its iPhone lineup, also due to rising component costs which are creating additional pressure on manufacturers to either absorb the expenses or pass some of them on to consumers.

For Samsung, the Galaxy S26 Ultra sits at the top end of its mainstream flagship smartphone range and any increase in price would add further pressure to consumers already facing higher smartphone prices across the premium segment. 

For now, however, the reported increase seems to only be limited to Samsung’s South Korean market, with no rumours around pricing in other regions. Those considering purchasing Galaxy S26 Ultra will have to wait for Samsung’s official pricing announcements before knowing whether they will face price hikes on the handset. Currently the price increases remain unconfirmed.
