Sony Expected To Post 36% Drop In Net Profit

Sony Group is expected to post a 36 per cent drop in net profit when it posts its quarterly financials tomorrow.

This is according to a poll of analysts by Visible Alpha, who expect the Japanese giant to post a net profit of A$803.97.

Revenue, however, is estimated to be up 28 per cent from the year prior, to $32.7 billion.

PlayStation 5 sales leaped to 7.1 million from 3.9 million a year earlier, boosting Sony’s game division profit by 25 per cent, to A$1.3 billion.

Sony recently cut its full-year forecast for image sensors, however it still dominates this sector, producing more than triple that of its nearest rival, Samsung.

Sony will release its full first-quarter financials tomorrow, including earnings guidance for the fiscal year that started in April.
