Meze Unveils Ultra-Premium ARTA Headphones Tipped To Cost Close To A$10K
Romanian audio specialist Meze Audio has revealed its most ambitious headphones yet, unveiling the new ARTA flagship model with a price tag expected to sit close to A$10,000 by the time they reach local retailers.
Positioned above the company’s acclaimed Empyrean II and Elite ranges, the open-back ARTA headphones, priced at US$6,000 (around A$9,200), are designed for serious audiophiles seeking a reference-grade listening experience.
At the heart of the ARTA is a newly developed Rinaro MZ5 HΩ planar magnetic driver, which Meze claims is the highest-impedance planar headphone driver ever produced.
Operating at 225 ohms, the design uses a high-voltage, low-current architecture aimed at improving signal stability and reducing distortion.
Rather than pursuing an ultra-analytical sound profile, Meze says the ARTA delivers a “warm-neutral” tuning with a speaker-like presentation.

The company claims the headphones create a wider, more natural soundstage, placing instruments in distinct positions to mimic the experience of listening to a high-end loudspeaker system.
The specifications are ambitious, with a quoted frequency response of 3Hz to 115kHz, total harmonic distortion below 0.05%, and a weight of 495 grams.
Visually, the ARTA departs from traditional audiophile styling, combining carbon fibre, metal and leather in a sculptural design inspired by Art Nouveau and organic forms.
An acoustic grille featuring angled blades is designed to minimise internal soundwave reflections and improve clarity.
Meze has also focused on longevity, with every major component – including drivers, earcups, headband and earpads – designed to be removable, serviceable and replaceable.
The ARTA will make its public debut on June 4, with broader availability expected later this year. Australian pricing and release details have not yet been confirmed.
