Sonos has confirmed its limited edition coloured ‘One’ speakers will land down under next month – debuting new ‘vivid red’, ‘forest green’, ‘pale yellow’, ‘baby pink’ and ‘light grey’ variants in collaboration with Danish design brand HAY.
The HAY for Sonos One Limited Edition Collection will retail for A$349, and is available to purchase from Sonos’ website here, HAY’s Sydney store or Cult Design in Melbourne.
The collaboration continues an emerging trend – e.g. from Google and Apple – to integrate bright colours in home technology.
As previously reported, Google recently launched a slew of new colours for its Google Home Mini, including vibrant Aqua. Apple has also debuted its new iPhone XR in several bright colours.
Tad Toulis, Sonos VP Design, asserts the company does not follow fashion, with its “commitment to the black and white colour palette” a choice to suit the most number of homes.
Despite this, Toulis claims HAY’s design philosophy aligns with its own, enabling Sonos to explore the evolving nature of home architecture.
HAY Co-Founder, Matte Hay, asserts the limited edition Sonos One x Hay speakers deserve to be “treated like furniture”, as though “strong, independent objects that can blend in, or stand out.”
Functionality of the limited edition devices remain the same as existing Sonos One speakers.
