Sonos has added improved support for home automation software Control4 in its newest update to its wireless multi-room speakers.

The new software update allows Sonos products to work with Control4’s Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP), streamlining the connection between the speakers and the Control4 system that now automatically recognises them.

Control4 bills the SDDP as “a great way for companies to easily enter the rapidly growing home and commercial automation industry”, where Sonos has recently sought entrance by adding digital voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri to its speakers.

The Sonos 10.3 update also provides better support for podcasts.
