Sega Genesis Classics Coming to Nintendo Switch

Get your nostalgia muscles flexing, because, following reports that PlayStation Classic was coming to Australia before Christmas with 20 retro games preloaded, Nintendo has unveiled the Sega Genesis Classics package with 51 classic Genesis games for the Nintendo Switch, coming this December from $59.

It’s the largest collection of retro classics on Switch in one package and includes all the classics like Sonic, Streets of Rage 2, and Phantasy Star to name a few.

The mini versions of the original devices are massive hits with both older gamers who loved the originals in their own youth, and today’s younger gamers, Nintendo is banking in on this love of nostalgia with the release of this package on the Switch.

The package includes 51 classic Sega Genesis and MegaDrive games including our favourite super fast blue hedgehog, Sonic.

Besides access to a massive collection of games, the package also allows gamers to save at any point and return right where you left off, not just at checkpoints.

Additionally, you can even rewind in the middle of gameplay — a feature that we all would have loved in the original games — so if you get stuck at one section or miss a coin then you can rewind it over and over again.

To really drive home the nostalgia, you can select different retro stylised borders to your gameplay.

The collection of 51 Mega Drive and Genesis classics comes to the Nintendo Switch on December 31st from $59. You can preorder it now on the Sega website and from JB Hi-Fi.
