Samsung has further expanded into the health wearables market, following the launch of its new ‘Galaxy Watch Active’ smartwatch, ‘Galaxy Fit’ activity tracker and cord-free ‘Galaxy Buds’ headphones.

Catering to the health-conscious and active consumer, the devices pledge to offer health tracking in a stylish and more convenient form factor.

Samsung Australia has confirmed the devices will release locally, with pricing and availability to be confirmed later.

“Consumers are increasingly putting their overall well-being at the center of their lifestyle decisions, and
they’re looking for wearables that make it easier to get active and stay balanced every day,” asserts DJ Koh, Samsung Electronics President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division.

Galaxy Watch Active – ‘Style meets sporty’

Taking on the likes of Fitbit and Apple, the new Galaxy Watch Active pledges to offer premium smartwatch features in a fashion-forward design.

Claimed to be “more than just fitness tracking”, the device offers a slew of healthy mind and body features including; blood pressure monitoring, stress tracker, and auto-detecting fitness tracking.

The device is compatible with iOS and Android and offers real-time coaching, complemented by popular third-party apps such as Under Armour and Spotify.

Users can engage in Samsung’s voice assistant, Bixby, to make calls or send messages without picking up their smartphone.

Galaxy Fit & Galaxy Fit e

The thin Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e pledge thin, lightweight fitness trackers, comfortable to wear all week long.

The devices automatically start tracking activity, no matter physical workout.

Users can manually select from over 90 different activities via the Samsung Health app on their smartphone, with the Galaxy Fit/Galaxy Fit e automatically commencing selected workout.

The device also enables users to receive synced alerts and messages (e.g.alarm or calendar alerts) without needing to touch their smartphone.

Both trackers boast water resistance of 5ATM3, for easy manoeuvrability from the shower to the pool.

Galaxy Buds (RRP $249)

Taking on the likes of Apple’s AirPods and several other true wireless headphones, the new Galaxy Buds claim to offer a premium cord-free experience.

As an extra incentive, local customers who pre-order a Galaxy S10 smartphone from participating retailers between February 21 – March 7 will be eligible to receive a bonus set Galaxy Buds.

Sound is powered by AKG, with an enhanced ambient sound enabling users to remain aware of their environment whilst taking a phone call, or listening to music.

An adaptive dual microphone pledges to deliver a user’s voice clearly in both loud and quiet environments.

The headphones pledge up to six hours of Bluetooth streaming, and up to five hours of calls. The accompanying charging case offers 1.7 hours of life, from a 15-minute charge.

Users can also get a quick boost in battery life via device-to-device power sharing from the Galaxy S10 smartphone.
