Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 are raising concerns after a recent software update appeared to trigger significant battery problems, with complaints spreading rapidly across online communities.

Since the April 2026 security patch began rolling out, many users say their devices are draining far more quickly than before. Some report their phones lasting only a few hours on a full charge, while others have noticed slower charging times alongside reduced battery life.

The issue does not appear to be limited to a small number of devices. Discussions across Samsung forums and social platforms show a growing number of users describing similar experiences, with many noting a clear decline in performance compared with previous weeks.

Several users who examined their battery usage data believe a system feature called Knox Matrix may be contributing to the problem. The security framework, designed to monitor threats and safeguard connected devices, is reportedly consuming a higher level of processing power than expected. This increased activity could be placing additional strain on the device, leading to both rapid battery depletion and higher operating temperatures.

Because Knox Matrix is integrated into Samsung’s software environment, it cannot easily be switched off or removed, leaving affected users with limited options to address the issue themselves.

Samsung has not yet issued a formal statement on the matter. However, support representatives in community forums have suggested that users experiencing severe problems seek assistance from authorised service centres so the devices can be assessed.

Not all devices appear to be affected, which points to the possibility of a software bug impacting certain configurations rather than a widespread hardware fault.

For now, users noticing unusual battery drain or overheating following the update may need to wait for further guidance or a potential fix, as the problem does not seem to have a simple workaround.
