In a recent drop and durability test, Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra shattered on its first fall from waist-height. This was believed to be due to its curved display. With its flat glass display, the Galaxy S23+ was expected to perform better. It didn’t.
The S23 Ultra uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on its front and back, as does the S23+, but despite having a flat display it still lost out to gravity and landing on a hard surface on its first fall.
Still, the cracks on the S23+’s flat panel were smaller than those on the Ultra’s curved panel, though the touch display on both devices remained responsive to touch input and continued to display content, with the only real issue being the shattered glass.
This comes as no real surprise, though, as most modern phone glass tends to come off second in a fall from waist height.
