Qualcomm Seeks Pause To Ruling

Qualcomm has asked a US appeals court to pause an antitrust ruling that could drastically alter its business model while it mounts an appeal.

US District Judge Lucy Koh ruled that the chip giant had engaged in anti-competitive patent-licensing practices to keep a monopoly on the mobile chip market. She ordered Qualcomm to license its technology to rival chipmakers.

The company has argued that letting the ruling stand could up-end its talks with phonemakers over chips for 5G, the next generation of wireless data networks.
