Apple’s former Mac hardware VP, Doug Field, who left the company to become Tesla’s chief vehicle engineer in 2013, has returned to the iPhone maker.
He is believed to have been hired to work on the tech giant’s top-secret Project Titan self-driving car program.
Field led the development of a number of new products at Apple including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac before leaving for Tesla.
He has also worked as an engineer at Ford.
Observers say he would be an ideal fit for Apple’s self-drive car project, which is currently said to be running more than 50 autonomous cars around California.
