PlayStation 4 Sales Continue To Climb, Pass 40 Million Mark

Sony’s PlayStation 4 sales have hit the 40 million mark, with the PS4 the fastest-selling console in PlayStation history.

Sony has advised that as of May 22, more than 40 million PS4 units had cumulatively been sold to consumers worldwide.

Meanwhile, PS4 software sales have passed more than 270.9 million copies sold in retail stores globally and via digital downloads through the PlayStation Store as of the same date.

Sony states that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, released May 10, recorded global sales of over 2.7 million units in just one week, with the PS4 software portfolio to continue to expand with a number of games on the way.

Sony is also set to launch its PlayStation VR headset later in the year.

The virtual reality headset, which will go up against the likes of the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, is set to land in the Australian market in October.
