Philips 55″ OLED Coming Soon, Dolby Vision + HDR10+ In New Models

A new 55″ Philips OLED TV will soon be available in Australia with The Good Guys set to one of the first retailers to get the new European TV brands OLED offering.

Last week Philips in Europe announced that they will support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, its open standard rival, on two new OLED TVs this year.

Both the 804 and 854 models will offer multi-HDR compatibility, along with HLG, when they launch.

The 804 and 854 share the same panel and spec, but have different stands designs. The news follows confirmation from Panasonic that its next OLED flagship, the GZ2000, will also support both dynamic HDR variants.

At a European launch event in Amsterdam, Philips also confirmed another screen collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins, the 8804 LED LCD, and says it will aggressively market its mid-range 7 Performance Series offering, the 7304. To be dubbed The One, the 7304 will be available in a variety of screen sizes, starting at 43-inches.

The Philips 7304 will have both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio on board, and boasts a clean, silver grey minimalist design.

Naturally, all these newly announced models also sport Philips Ambilight mood lighting technology.

Philips has been a leading TV brand in Australia in the past and the expansion of the brand who also build in Android TV software has been welcomed by retailers.
