Panasonic Launches Two New Micro Hi-Fi Systems
Panasonic has unveiled two new micro hi-fi systems, giving buyers a choice between a more powerful setup for larger rooms and a cheaper, more compact alternative.
The SC-PMX112 sits at the top of the pair, delivering 180W of power and combining traditional hi-fi features with modern streaming options. Its speakers use 13cm drivers alongside dedicated tweeters and bass reflex ports, with Panasonic promising clear vocals, detailed highs and powerful bass.
Listeners can also choose between five EQ presets to adjust the sound to their preferences.
Despite the fairly traditional wooden speaker cabinets, the SC-PMX112 offers plenty of modern connectivity. Dual-band Wi-Fi enables Spotify Connect and internet radio, while Bluetooth is available for streaming directly from phones and other devices.
There’s also DAB+ and FM radio, a CD player and USB playback. Wired devices can be connected through optical and 3.5mm line inputs, while headphone and subwoofer outputs provide a little more flexibility for expanding the setup.
For those who don’t need quite as much power, Panasonic has also introduced the smaller SC-PM302.

It delivers 60W RMS of stereo output through 10cm full-range speakers housed in wooden cabinets. It retains many of the playback options found on the more expensive model, including CD and USB playback, Bluetooth, DAB+ and FM radio.
The SC-PM302 also includes optical and line inputs, although it misses out on the headphone and subwoofer outputs offered by the SC-PMX112.
Another difference is the display, with the SC-PM302 featuring a 2.4-inch colour TFT screen compared with the 2.8-inch display on the SC-PMX112. Both systems come with a remote control.
Panasonic currently lists the two products as “coming soon” on its UK website. The SC-PMX112 is priced at £270 (around US$350 / A$500), while the more affordable SC-PM302 costs £120 (around US$160 / A$230).
There’s no word yet if the products will be available in Australia.
