Oppo has introduced a new smartwatch alongside its latest foldable device, revealing the Watch X3 as an updated version of last year’s model with a refined design and expanded health features.

The Watch X3 adopts a circular form and focuses on reducing bulk while adding new monitoring capabilities. The case is built from TC4 titanium alloy, a material commonly used in aerospace and medical applications due to its strength and resistance to corrosion. Oppo has also redesigned the strap, incorporating a segmented structure with metal connectors between fluororubber sections.

The display is covered with sapphire glass for improved durability and features a 1.5-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 466 by 466 pixels. Brightness has been increased compared with the previous generation, reaching up to 3,000 nits, which is about 36 per cent higher than before.

Oppo says the Watch X3 is lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, with a weight of 43 grams and a thickness of 11.0 millimetres. Despite the reduced size, battery capacity remains largely unchanged at 646 mAh. The company claims the watch can run for up to three days under heavy use, around five days with typical usage, and up to 16 days in a power-saving mode. Charging is rated at 7.5 watts, with a full recharge taking about 75 minutes, while a 10-minute top-up can provide enough power for a full day.

Durability has also been maintained, with the watch offering 5ATM water resistance along with IP68 and IP69 ratings, providing protection against dust and exposure to water, including high-pressure sprays.

A major addition is the inclusion of continuous glucose monitoring, which can provide real-time readings and alerts. The watch also supports blood pressure tracking and can assess potential hypertension risk. These features are combined with existing health tools such as ECG, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen tracking, sleep analysis with sleep apnoea detection and a wrist temperature sensor.

For fitness tracking, the Watch X3 includes support for more than 100 activities. It can measure metrics such as VO2 max, lactate threshold, recovery time and training effect, and includes an AI-based coaching system. Positioning is handled through dual-band GPS alongside support for BeiDou, Galileo and GLONASS.

Connectivity options include 4G via eSIM, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2. NFC is also supported for uses such as access control and public transport, although functionality may vary by region.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 platform, though it is not yet clear whether it uses the latest version of the chipset.
