OPPO is tipped to be preparing a wider book-style foldable smartphone, as the battle for next-generation foldables heats up ahead of expected launches from Apple and Samsung.

According to Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu, the upcoming device, tentatively referred to as the OPPO Find N7 Wide, could feature a near crease-free internal display and a redesigned rear camera system.

The leak claims OPPO will move away from the circular camera island used on recent Find N foldables, instead adopting a horizontally aligned rear camera module.

The device is expected to feature a wider format than OPPO’s current Find N models, potentially making the cover screen more practical for everyday use while improving multitasking and video playback when unfolded.

Earlier reports from Digital Chat Station suggested OPPO is testing a wide book-style foldable with a roughly 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. The panels are reportedly being developed with Samsung Display and BOE.

The Find N7 Wide could also be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which is expected to be built on a 2nm process.

OPPO is also said to be working on a new hinge system designed to reduce the visibility of the crease, one of the most common complaints among foldable phone users.

The wider foldable category is expected to become more competitive, with Samsung reportedly working on a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and Apple tipped to be developing its first foldable iPhone with a similar shorter, wider book-style design.

It remains unclear whether OPPO will launch the Find N7 Wide as a standalone model or alongside a standard Find N7.

The device is currently tipped for a first-quarter 2027 launch.
