Japanese brand Onkyo has marked its 80th anniversary with the launch of the Muse Series – a pair of compact but powerful network integrated amplifiers.

The new range, which was launched at CES 2026, consists of the flagship Y-50 and the more affordable Y-40.

Both are designed as all-in-one two-channel hubs, combining high-power amplification, multi-room streaming and a strikingly modern interface in a slim, minimalist chassis.

Despite their compact size, the amps promise serious performance. The Y-50 delivers up to 250 watts per channel into 4 ohms, while the Y-40 offers 150 watts per channel, both using full digital circuits and Axign Class D amplification with high-current MOSFETs.

Onkyo says the goal is to provide a large, dynamic soundstage that belies the small footprint.

A standout feature is the 5.46-inch colour LCD on the front, which shows album art, metadata and even an old-school VU meter. There’s also Onkyo Room EQ on the Y-50 for room calibration. Design touches include a new volume knob and heat vents inspired by traditional Japanese “San Kuzushi” patterns.

Connectivity is comprehensive, with HDMI ARC for TV and gaming, phono input for turntables, multiple analogue and digital inputs, plus Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Both models support Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Chromecast and AirPlay 2, controlled via the Onkyo Controller app.

The Muse Series will come in black or silver, with US pricing set at US$1,499 for the Y-50 and US$999 for the Y-40. Global availability is expected from May.
