OLED TV Prices Set To Fall Sharply In 2026
Australian consumers could soon get their hands on significantly cheaper OLED TVs, with production costs dropping rapidly and prices expected to follow suit in 2026.
Industry insiders say manufacturing a 65-inch OLED panel has nearly halved in cost since 2020.
LG Display, which produces OLED panels in South Korea and China, has slashed costs through factory expansion, yield improvements and depreciated assets – particularly in its Chinese plant.
In 2020, the production cost for a 65-inch OLED panel was around A$1,500.
By last year, it had dropped to $900, and this year it’s expected to fall below $750. Analysts forecast further reductions next year due to a planned display driver IC (DDI) design overhaul.
A Korean news report noted LG Display’s efforts have cut costs by up to 30% over two years and they aim for more savings through innovation in 2026.

That cost decline comes amid intensifying competition from advanced RGB LED and Mini-LED LCD TVs.
The manufacturing cost gap between OLED and premium LCD TVs is narrowing.
“When you include backlight and driver costs, RGB LED LCD panels may cost as much as OLED panels,” said a source cited by Chosun Biz.
For Australian buyers, the effect is already visible.
OLED prices for larger screens, including LG’s latest 77-inch and 83-inch models, have dropped sharply this year. On JB Hi-Fi, several models from Samsung, Sony and LG are currently on sale.
TCL’s inkjet-printed OLED technology and expanded production from LG Display could accelerate the trend.
With production costs trending downward and new competition heating up, 2026 could mark a turning point for OLED affordability in Australia.
