Nine Radio is set for a major digital pivot, with the business to be rebranded as Tapt Media following its $56 million acquisition by the Laundy Family Office, led by Sydney pub magnate Arthur Laundy (pictured).

Pending regulatory approval, the new brand will roll out from 1 May, signalling a shift beyond traditional broadcast into streaming, podcasting and data-led advertising.

The rebrand applies to corporate and trade identity only. Flagship stations 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR will retain their existing names and formats.

Incoming CEO Tom Malone (pictured below) said the move reflects a broader transformation of the audio business.

“The transition to Tapt Media is about more than just a name change; it’s a statement of intent,” he said, pointing to increased investment in digital distribution and monetisation.

Tapt Media will position itself as a hybrid audio platform, combining talk radio reach with on-demand content and targeted advertising solutions – areas seeing rapid growth across Australia’s media sector.

The Laundy Family Office expects the acquisition to complete by 30 April, after which the company will accelerate its expansion into connected audio ecosystems.
