Next iPad Pro Tipped To Feature 3D AR Camera

Renowned Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, believes the next-generation iPad Pro will feature a revolutionary 3D camera, providing enhanced augmented reality. The device is tipped to launch late 2019, or early 2020.

As per 9to5MacKuo claims new iPads will integrate 3D modelling technology – called ‘Time of Fly’ (TOF) – into their camera.

The news comes hours after Apple unveiled its new iPad Pro, featuring upgraded hardware and wireless charging for the new Apple Pencil.

Augmented reality for iOS is already marketed as one of the new iPad Pro’s core competencies (further information available on Apple’s website here).

Kuo predicts TrueDepth IR features will not land on 2019 iPhones, launching on the iPad first and coming to iPhones the generation after.

As previously reported, Bloomberg claims Apple is working on a new 3D rear camera system for future iPhones.

The news follows Tim Cook’s famous remarks, asserting augmented realty will form a major portion of future consumer tech.
