Apple may be preparing a substantial upgrade for its next iPad mini, with new reports suggesting the compact tablet could receive one of the company’s most advanced processors to date.

According to MacRumors, the next-generation iPad mini is being tested with Apple’s A20 Pro chip, a processor that is not expected to debut until the iPhone 18 Pro range arrives in 2026. If accurate, this would mark a significant step up in performance for Apple’s smallest iPad.

Earlier speculation had pointed to the eighth-generation iPad mini adopting the A19 Pro chip, the same silicon expected to power the iPhone 17 Pro models. That upgrade alone would have delivered a noticeable improvement over the A17 Pro found in the current iPad mini. However, the newer A20 Pro would represent a far more dramatic leap.
