New HTC U Handset To Be Revealed May 16

HTC look to have set a date for the official reveal of the next major release in their U smartphone range.

The company sent out an invitation to media and customers this evening, calling on them to save the date of May 16th and detailing the time the reveal will take place.

The next U handset has been tipped to offer “frame-embedded sensors enable the user to control numerous, customizable actions with gestures such as squeezing or swiping along the left and right sides” – a feature tipped to be branded as “Sense Edge”.

A few issues notwithstanding, HTC have found a new sense of identity with their U smartphone range. We came away reasonably impressed with the HTC U Ultra, despite some caveats.

Spec-wise, the new U smartphone is believed to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and feature a 12-megapixel rear shooter and 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

Expect more information when the full reveal arrives on the 16th of May.
